How much does it cost?
The cost depends on several factors, so there is no set
“per person cost.” The variables that are taken into account are
-
Number of participants
-
Number of teams (some events are best with smaller teams; others can accommodate larger teams)
-
Staff required to run the event
-
Location—is the venue difficult to get to or work with?
-
Travel expenses – if the venue is outside the state or the country
-
Event selected
-
Time frame for the event
-
Date of event and lead time
What makes a good team building event?
It should have broad appeal for your group. It must require people to interact and collaborate. It should be fun and uplifting. The facilitators need to be upbeat, professional, articulate and flexible. The time frame has to fit easily into your agenda. Never over-pack your agenda and try to squeeze in a team building event. There is nothing worse than delaying the start and having to shorten the event. It’s not fair to your attendees or your team building provider.
How do I choose the best activity for my group?
You need to consider the interests and comfort of your participants. Don’t choose an event just because you like it. What would appeal to the people who will actually be doing the event? Take into account how active your group is. Some want a lot of physical activity while others do not. What do you want people to get out of participating? If you are limited to being in a hotel room or have a venue with other limitations, you need to take that into consideration as well.
Where can we do team building?
Most team building companies do not have a facility for team building. Usually, they will go to wherever you want to have the event. This could be a park, beach, hotel ballroom, or any facility that has plenty of space. If you are considering a scavenger hunt type of event, you want a resort or interesting downtown location that is safe and easy to walk around.
What sort of venue is the best for team building?
After you have decided what sort of event you want to have, ask the team building company what sort of venue would be ideal? Generally, any park, beach, hotel ballroom, community center. Make sure it has enough space for the event. You will need an indoor option if the weather is not ideal. If going to a park, a group picnic area is great. It typically has shade, a place for people to sit, tables to work on, restroom facilities, and parking. If you are using a park, please check rules regarding sound amplification and other regulations (like no alcoholic beverages, water balloons or inflatables). When outdoors, make sure you have plenty of sunscreen and water for everyone. Whatever you decide, make sure that it is easy for participants to get to, there is ample parking, it’s clean and safe. The best thing is to do a site inspection with your team building provider -well in advance of the event.
